conference, which took place on 27 September 2007 in the UNIAN News
Agency, the members of the Consortium “National Exit Poll 2007”,
which includes the Democratic Initiatives Foundation, Kyiv
International Institute of Sociology and Razumkov Center,
promulgated their statement:
Statement
of the Consortium
“NationalExitPoll 2007” about the Situation with Voters’ Polls
at the Exits from Polling Stations
The
Consortium “National Exit Poll 2007” callsonorganizers of other
exitpolls which
will be held
in Ukraine to
adhere to the
ethical code of
the international professional public opinion surveyors,
such as WAPOR/AAPOR and ESOMAR,
and their recommendations on holding
of exitpolls
and electoral surveys and
to ensure maximum transparency of such
process.
During
the recent years the practice have spread in Ukraine to use public
opinion polls as an instrument of shady political technologies: to
wangle ratings, replicate materials of pseudo-surveys in order to
manipulate voters’ opinion and support vicious and dirty intentions
of state-mongers. Such practice hinders democratic development
of Ukraine, it should be put an end to and the Ukrainian and
international public should assess it at its true
worth.
The
primary goal of the National Exit Poll 2007 is to support fair
election in Ukraine, control over fair counting of votes and,
correspondingly, implement democratic procedures and practices in
the Ukrainian society and in our part of Europe as a
whole.
